When You Are Engulfed in Flames - David Sedaris this book was entertaining, and smart, and i enjoyed sedaris' perspective on life, and family, and art, and crap. it was my first foray into his world, and i laughed out loud at least twice. that being said, the writing itself doesn't floor me -- he's a good storyteller, and i would love to be sitting next to him at a party but stylistically, nothing's blowing me away. i don't know that his books are must-reads for me but i wouldn't run screaming from them either. and now i know the answer to the burning question in a meme that went around last year: sedaris or eggers? and i'm saying sedaris. :)
